Thanks, Tenaya. I’m writing about the trauma of loss and the loss of trauma right now — as a way of trying to frame these very same issues. I’m not sure what the answers are for healing; I suspect they are different for each of us. But I am sure that they include awareness, presence, and love. That some times feels like all I can do in the face of trauma: be aware, maintain presence, and find/create/channel love. But boy, it’s not easy. Thank you for your very important part in all this work. Love you too!

Thank you for sharing this Amy. I too have been thinking and writing about our individual and collective response to the recent tragedies. My personal response always includes trauma and paralysis, anger, fear, grief and then resolution and acceptance. The N Cal fires brought it so close to home that the trauma reaction was longer before grief has begun. What is the hardest for me this time is that I am not sure I can get back to a relaxed “normal” because the threat of fire or earthquake or other severe climatic event feels more imminent than it ever did before. I have not yet figured out how to be with this or to let go of the “guard” associated with it. We shall see what happens as I work with it. Keep writing! It is important for all of us and you have some much experience in this grief and letting go “thing”. Love you!
